What a vibe!! Went there on a Wednesday evening and was pleasantly surprised to see how full it gets. Birthdays after birthdays it was just lovely. The kids area is well supervised and located. The food came hot and was very tastey. Plenty of seating and spacious so it accommodated the crowds well. I got that old school Spur nostalgia feeling from this experience. We sat there until late in the evening and with all that activity I like that the staff kept their smiles on.

I trust that this was an uncharacteristically off evening for this particular Spur. I have eaten here on over 30 occasions. Today was less pleasant. The Lemon and Herb chicken was extremely bitter (I suspect that the concentrate was either old or undiluted. The sauce appeared to have poured over cooked chicken rather than cooked with it. As a change I had opted for a baked potatoe which was either a reheat or an overcook, as it had a hard and somewhat dry skin. The sour cream for the potatoe was tasty and the onion rings were very good. However one's sides should not be the focal point of good in a meal. 😀 Ironically in another uncharacteristic move the manager failed to make even 1 of the traditional 8 -10 visits to the table, to check that all is well and I had eaten most of the meal before it occurred to me that I should have queried the 'lemon and gravy' texture and taste. I look forward to making a redemptive visit soon.

While the meal itself was delicious and on point, our evening was made exceptional by Bruce and Siphesihle. They were engaging, took into consideration our preferences with a smile, and timed our courses perfectly for a relaxed dining experience. It's clear the staff here is well-trained and passionate. I've been coming to spur for many years. However, this is the first time I've experienced such hands on service from a manager. Not to mention follow through. Sandra at cascades branch Pietermaritzburg, is so exceptionally friendly, helpful and altogether an excellent manager. I am completely and totally impressed. Kudos to spur for putting humble people into these positions, whose only objective is customer satisfaction. Well done!

Always good service and not often extremely busy. Good play section for little kiddies. Super breakfast or steak. A pleasure to eat out there if the opportunity arises. Friendly and efficient staff.
